REFUSE DISPOSAL

REFUSE DISPOSAL: HON. OLOWA MEDIATES BETWEEN LAWMA / PSP AND RESIDENTS FOR A CLEANER ENVIRONMENT.

Environmental sustainability can only be achieved through proper waste disposal by designated authorities; the maintenance of Environmental  law and order is however, one of the major agenda of Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi  Sesan Olowa led Administration which has made the aforementioned step one of his major priorities.

The Council Mayor, however, today 29th  September, 2021 meet with LAWMA/PSP Operators, Council of Baales and some residents of  Communities within the Council Area to resolve pressing issues on proper and prompt mode of carting refuse within affected communities.

The Baale of Awoyaya, Chief Salawu Ogunlana among other traditional Chiefs at the meeting chastised PSP Operators for not living up to  expectations of carting of refuse promptly which made residents refuse to pay for the  epileptic services by the former: This act has left behind environmental decadence within Awoyaya community and its environs.
Another representative of the Baale in Council promised to influence payment by residents when PSP Operators evacuate waste as at when due.

In his response, the Executive Chairman appealed to both parties and emphasized on the fact that Ibeju-Lekki is blessed with larger land space that needs constant cleaning to avoid degeneration. He further reiterated on the need for both parties to work in synergy in the interest of the Council Area to achieve a cleaner environment.
Hon. Olowa charged LAWMA officials to provide more dump sites for easy waste discharges to prevent residents from dumping refuse indiscriminately. He, however promised the Local Government will work in conjunction with LAWMA to sensitise the people on proper mode of waste disposal.

Also present at the meeting were AGM, LAWMA, Mrs Bola Adewunmi, Operational Head, Mr. Waheed Ademola, Chairman, Council of Baales Chief Gbadebo Fatau amongst others.
