Ibeju-Lekki Local Government today embarked on a CLEANER IBEJU-LEKKI INITIATIVE in commemoration of the annual “WORLD CLEAN-UP DAY” which comes up every 18th of September.
This is a strategy towards the declaration of zero tolerance to indiscriminate dumping of refuse,open defecation and other forms of environmental nuisances perpetrated by residents. It is also an avenue for the Executive Chairman, Vice Chairman, Leader and Members of the Legislative Arm, Members of Management and the entire Workforce of the Council to champion the course of making Ibeju-Lekki clean and devoid of environmental hazards.
The Executive Chairman, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa while addressing  pressman during the exercise  emphasized on the need for residents of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government to keep their environment clean by ensuring wastes are properly  bagged, drainages desilted and maintaining constant degree of cleanliness around residences and businesses.
The Council Mayor warned that residents who are found defacing the Council Area will face the full wrath of the law. He also enjoined residents to adhere strictly to the rules because the Cleaner Ibeju-Lekki initiative is a  a continuous exercise that will leave no stone unturned where environmental sanitation is concerned.
In thesame vein, the Local Government has however, constituted Environmental Taskforce to work directly with LAWMA to ensure the council achieve its desired goals and enforce compliance  by residents.
Workers were however, provided with sophisticated work tools to ease their burden as well as yield more productivity.
The Environmental calvary which took off from the Council Secretariat ably led by the dogged Mayor Olowa and his astute Vice Chairman,
Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji formed two groups to  commence the cleaning exercise simultaneously at  Awoyaya, Ologunfe, Abijo, Akodo and other communities within the Council Area.
Ibeju-Lekki 6th Legislative Council Members were also representing the seven (7) Political Wards were seen cleaning to portray good representation.
With this proactive step taken, it can be said that the Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa’s Administration is put in place to set the pace of developmental strategic governance for other Councils and to generally protect the interest of the people.
At various locations of the exercise were, the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Mojeed Olayinka Oluwafemi and other Councillors representing the seven(7) political wards, Council Manager, Engr. (Mrs) Akitoye Olubunmi and her Team, the Head Environmental Health Officer, Dr. Akinyele Cyril and his Team, LAWMA Representatives,
Members of the Environmental Taskforce, Gardeners, Sweepers, Ibeju-Lekki  Media Team amongst others.
