Ibeju-Lekki Local Government held its Town Hall Convergence and Year 2027 Budget Consultative Forum, where the Executive Chairman, Hon.(Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, rendered an account of his stewardship under the SHIEELD AGENDA and invited residents to shape the 2027 Appropriation Bill.
In his welcome address, the Supervisor for Budget and Planning, Hon. Waliu Balogun, commended the Chairman’s steady project delivery. He stressed that a good budget is measured by its impact on community development, not by figures alone, and called on the private sector and NGOs to participate in the process.
The Chairman said the council had turned expanded allocations from the federal subsidy removal policy into public assets, and that no neighbourhood or voice would be left out of the 2027 budget.
Highlights of the forum
•Security: Launch and deployment of 70 Community Security and Intelligence Network (CSIN) officers across the seven wards; 71 security guards already placed in 35 public schools; upgrade of Eleko Beach Police Post to a Divisional Headquarters; and new Toyota Tacoma patrol vehicles for the Eleko, Elemoro and Akodo Police Divisions.
•Health: Commissioning of the fully equipped Adesalu Primary Health Centre; solar installations at Awoyaya PHC (48kWh/33kVA) and Debojo PHC (32kWh/22kVA); renovation of four PHCs (Orimedu, Ibeju, Aiyeteju and Adesalu); and a planned Iberekodo Comprehensive PHC.
•Education and Youth: Handover of renovated Mopo-Ijebu and Magbon-Alade Primary Schools; ongoing works at Iberekodo Primary School; distribution of the 2026 Indigenous Bursary Awards; upcoming Smart Schools in Okegun and Awoyaya; and the Career Accelerator Programme (CAP) at the new ICT Centre.
•Digital Governance: Launch of the Street Naming and Addressing Portal and the modernized Local Government Web Portal, enabling online applications and tracking of budgets and project timelines.
•Social Welfare: Disbursement of the 6th Batch of the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme.
•Infrastructure and Commerce: Commissioning of the 900-metre Lakowe-Losoro-Lagasa Link Road; drainage works on Shapati Road and Canal; reconstruction of Hon. Idowu Eletu Street; new Caterpillar and Bobcat machinery; 600 solar streetlights; and the Orimedu Modern Market (100 open stalls, 24 lock-up shops), now at roofing stage.
The Chairman urged royal fathers, market leaders, youth advocates and residents to engage candidly, stating that their input will determine where the next drainage channels and solar grids are deployed.
The Community Development Showcase was then declared open.
